| The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (Customs,
CBP) has added an "FTA Training" page to its web site. The new
web page includes several presentations that the agency has used to train
its staff on the textile and apparel provisions of various free trade
agreements and special programs.
Customs described each of the presentations as follows: How Do I Read Tariff Shift Rules? "This is part of the training materials provided by CBP to field Import Specialists on textile tariff shift rules and other textile rules in the following free trade agreements to which the US is a party: North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Bahrain, Chile, Morocco, Oman, Australia, Singapore, Dominican Republic, Central America, " United States Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA)." Textile Preference Programs AGOA, CBTPA, ATPDEA "This is part of the training materials provided by CBP to field Import Specialists on textile preferential rules of origin in the following legislative [preference] programs: The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), The Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA) and The Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA)." Israel and Jordan FTAs and QIZ Programs for Textiles "This is part of the training materials provided by CBP to field Import Specialists on textile preferential rules of origin in the following free trade agreements to which the US is a party: Israel and Jordan. It also includes information on the U.S.-Israel FTA Qualifying Industrial Zone (QIZ) programs with Jordan and Egypt." AGOA Folklore "This is a list of African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) textile folklore items provided by CBP to field Import Specialists as a part of AGOA textile preferential rules of origin training." NAFTA Folklore "This is a list of North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) textile folklore items provided by CBP to field Import Specialists as a part of NAFTA textile rules of origin training."
