Both the Senate and the House have now passed the conference version of the Trade Act of 2002. It will now go to the President who has indicated he will sign it soon.

Some highlights:

-GSP renewed retroactively through December 31,2006.

-Renew and expand the Andean Trade Preference Act.

-Amend some items in both the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act and the African Growth and Opportunity Act.

-Authorize fiscal year 2003 and 2004 appropriations for Customs.

-Provide the President with Trade Promotion Authority.

-Extend and expand the Trade Adjustment Assistance program.
