| President Signs Trade Act of 2002 |
On August 6, 2002 President Bush signed The Trade Act of 2002 into law. Some of the key componets of the law restored retoractively GSP, CBI and the Andean Free Trade Agreement. On all entries that involved GSP only, Customs has stated that as long as the entry summary showed a special program indicator of A and had duty deposited, refunds will be automatically issued. On any non-ABI entry or those that did not indicate the A, a request to Customs for the refund will be needed. There will be no automatic refunds for any other programs. All refunds on entries that are now eligible for duty free status via programs other than GSP will need to be requested in writing. As always, any refunds issued go to the importer of record. |
