| Concerning textile merchandise that requires
a visa issued in 2006, exported in 2006, but will
not be entered for consumption in the United States
until sometime in 2007:
Is a current year visa valid for a prior year
exportation?
No. The year of export must match the year
of the visa. The date of
issuance of the visa is irrelevant. For
example, if the year of export is
2006, the visa number must start with a 6 followed
by the two digit ISO
code followed by a six digit number, even through
the visa may have been
issued in 2007.
The export date from the country of origin of
the merchandise must be the
same year (2006) as the visa (6CN234567).
If you receive a visa 7CN987654 from your client,
then the export date from
the country of origin must be 2007.
Another example, if the merchandise is exported
out of China, by truck, to
Hong Kong in 2006 with a 2006 visa, then
it is loaded on a ship or
airplane on January 1, 2007 or January 21, 2007,
the year of export from
the country of origin and visa number, must both
be for the year 2006.
The year of the visa and the year of export must
match. |
