Transport activities are expected to again be very limited as indicated by the following:

  • Limited, if any air traffic at BWI or Dulles Airports
  • Government agencies, including Customs and Border Protection closed or operating with skeleton crews
  • CSX and Norfolk Southern have limited or no rail service to much of Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey/NY and have declared forec majeur which releases responsibility for on time services
  • Ocean Terminals from NY to Baltimore closed or very limited activities for today. Numerous vessels are being held outside port limits until pilots can safely board vessels and terminals can be cleared of snow so that vessels can be worked. Cargo deliveries are also limited by these conditions
  • Trucking operations either closed or expected to be extremely limited today and tomorrow depending on road conditions and the limited capacity at pick-up and delivery points.

These conditions will make it difficult to have your cargo moving in a normal fashion. The backlog created by weather conditions this week will take some time to work through even when transport systems return to normal. Please know we will be doing all possible to ensure your shipments are kept moving as timely as possible. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during these extreme conditions. We will do our best to keep you advised of the changing conditions.
