Prolonged Greek Port Disruption

Please be informed that ongoing protests at two major Greek ports are expected to continue until at least the end of February. To date, the industrial action has involved limited working hours and occasional full day strikes. In addition, little work is being carried out over weekends. The dispute is rooted in the Greek government's planned privatization of the ports of Thessaloniki and Piraeus which dock workers claim will eventually lead to job cuts.

For this reason, we advise clients to avoid shipping any cargo to or from the ports of Thessaloniki and Piraeus during this period, to safeguard against demurrage charges and delivery problems. If avoidance is not possible, we would ask clients to forward their full paperwork, contact details, etc. and we'll try our best to expedite the process and minimize container demurrage, port storage or truck waiting days charges.
