Possible Brazilian Customs Strike

Brazilian customs employees could go on strike beginning March 18 after nearly 98 percent of them voted in favor of that action March 11. Services expected to be suspended as a result of the strike include import and export customs clearance and federal tax collection. Employee leaders have guaranteed that 30 percent of customs activities will continue during the strike, but that level of service is unlikely to be sufficient to prevent losses for importers and exporters.
