Railway Strike in Germany and France

Since Wednesday, November 14, 2007, the German railway engine drivers again have started a strike which is supposed to last until Saturday, November 17, 2007, and might be on-going.

A complete railway strike started in France on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, until Monday, November 19, 2007, which also might go on.

The overall impact on the railway transportation over the next days, however, can not be fully judged at this stage but severe interferences for container transports have to be expected.

These strikes will directly affect container traffic to and from the German and French ocean ports and within the German hinterland. Also, cross-border traffic passing Germany is likely to be affected to the same extent.

The above was announced by Hapag-Lloyd.
